Fuse scholarships make a difference for students

Donors, students, alumni, community partners and college leadership celebrated the awarding of over $1.8 million in scholarships during the 2018-19 academic year at the St. Petersburg College Foundation’s 20th Annual Scholarship Appreciation Luncheon on March 27.

Ronelia Bailey, an SPC student and Fuse scholarship recipient, was a featured speaker at the luncheon.

The Fuse degree pathways program offers students attending eight local state colleges, including St. Petersburg College, guaranteed admission to the University of South Florida upon completion of an associate degree and other requirements. Qualified Fuse program students are also eligible to receive up to $5,500 in scholarships towards their degrees.

“I absolutely would not be where I am without the scholarships,” Ronelia said. “It was encouragement I needed to continue to move forward.”

The Community Foundation of Tampa Bay and LEAP Tampa Bay’s partners recently hit a major milestone of $3 million raised for the Fuse scholarship fund – money that’s helping students like Ronelia achieve their educational goals.

Check out the video above, which features testimonials from Ronelia and other students and donors about how scholarships are making a difference in the lives of SPC students.
